So I HAVE successfully found some photos from our last hurrah of the tour, which happened to be Halloween. The setting: the Penthouse, which is the only licensed burlesque stage in Canada. They have hosted Sammy Davis Jr, Tempest Storm and Satan's Angel. Usually they play host to more modern peelers and top 40 but on October 31st, their asses (and souls) belonged to us... Thanks to Pam Clack and Jaqueline Ryan for letting me pull the proverbial 'yoink' from their Facebook photos to repost here for your viewing pleasure... 
Sorry to Waltz Darling who were a lot of fun, but for no reason I can explain, I haven't found any photos of them, which is a shame. They were rather good. Next up were the Carnival Band.  If you live in Vancouver and have spent a Halloween on Commercial Drive, you'll know these cats from the Parade Of Lost Souls. Since the souls weren't the only thing to be lost this autumn, the budget went by the wayside for the parade as well, but we were happy to share the night with these amazing performers. I only hope that they do weddings and funerals - they are THAT good. If you see their names anywhere on a poster in town get yourself to whatever venue they are at. I promise you that it is worth it... Now, for the goods, as my friend Crystal Precious would say...

aaaand the best photo of the night: Interception! Seriously, this is the best photo of the whole night in my mind... I need this framed and by my bedside for the rest of my life... This made me really, really happy. In other news, I spent the past weekend at the Vancouver Taboo: Naughty But Nice Show. For those who aren't familiar with this, it's a trade show for sex shops, strippers, sex aids, swinger clubs and seminars. Among the confusion are the investment banker and luxury car booths which I'm told has little to do with the theme and more to do with the fact that they buy a booth in ever trade show. I'm curious to know if their blanket marketing has any positive impact on their business or if people generally think them to be twats. My favorite booth of the night being the XXX Church whose slogan is "Jesus Loves Porn Stars". I pretty much thought everyone loved porn stars, but as I read their material (which I found to be very open and inclusive, by the way and no preachy in the least) I came to a conclusion: Hentai is the most progressive porn ever. Forget Ninja Scroll and the La Blue Girl series. Most people involved in porn have a history of abuse in their lives and drug problems. I know that this is not fully across the board but for a lot of folks this is the case. There is also a social stigma of people who have done porn that make most people (who would watch the movies to augment their own sex lives) to recoil from them. I myself may have even been guilty of this. But, if someone approached me and told me they were a voice actor for hentai films, I'd be the first to remark how cool that is. In animation no real people are being surgically altered, hurt or demeaned so it is arguable how damaging it is, and porn can be what is meant to be: a harmless fantasy that doesn't actually exist. Support your local animators, voice actors, conceptual artists and perverts: rent or download some hentai today and take the strain off of some live actor porn stars shoulders and stop judging them, already.
